The Chartwell Early Learning Methodology
"Chartwell Daycare is proud to have a team of highly qualified and passionate educators, certified in Early Childhood Education and dedicated to fostering each child’s growth, learning, and creativity in a nurturing environment."
Chartwell Childcare’s proprietary curriculum is inspired by global best practices, including the French early learning standards that begin at ages 2–3. It offers a balanced blend of foundational subjects like Literacy, STEM, Fine Arts, and Mindfulness, allowing children the freedom to learn and grow through play and exploration.
Rooted in cutting-edge early childhood education research, the curriculum emphasizes experience-based brain development, laying a strong foundation for future learning, health, and behavior. Chartwell’s approach goes beyond traditional childcare by integrating innovative methodologies from Early Learning programs around the world.
Our educators play a dual role: guiding children with thoughtfully designed activities, as seen in Montessori & Malaguzzi education, while closely observing their interests and following their lead, akin to the Reggio Emilia philosophy. This approach nurtures curiosity and critical thinking, teaching children not just what to learn, but how to learn—a skill that fosters lifelong growth.
At Chartwell, teachers document each child’s social and educational development, regularly collaborating with families to ensure personalized progress. Through a collaborative and adaptive learning model, our program remains contemporary, creative, and forward-thinking, incorporating the latest philosophies in Early Learning.
Chartwell’s curriculum is built around four core pillars: Little Inventors, Word Wizards, Artful Creators, and Kindness Heroes, designed to engage and educate the whole child while preparing them for a bright future.

Our Philosophy at Chartwell Childcare
At Chartwell Childcare, we are dedicated to fostering a love for exploration, curiosity, and independence in every child. Our philosophy emphasizes nurturing confidence and self-esteem through authentic, life-based learning activities. By providing a safe, inclusive, and thoughtfully prepared environment, we respect individual learning styles and create opportunities for each child to thrive.
Key Elements of Our Philosophy
-
Building Trust: In our infant and toddler program, we prioritize forming trusting relationships through gentle interactions, responsive caregiving, and consistent routines, ensuring children feel secure and supported.
-
Meaningful Relationships: Inspired by the Montessori approach, we follow each child's lead, respecting their interests and fostering a sense of belonging through sensitive observation and engagement.
-
Language Development: We encourage communication by supporting language acquisition with storytelling, singing, and conversations. We also empower children to express themselves using words, gestures, and sign language.
-
Consistent Routines: Structured yet flexible daily routines help children feel secure, develop confidence, and anticipate activities like mealtime, naptime, and playtime.
-
Rules with Respect: Through collaborative rule-making and gentle guidance, children learn boundaries, empathy, and self-regulation, building social-emotional skills.
-
Encouraging Exploration: We create rich, sensory-filled environments that inspire curiosity and creativity, enabling hands-on discovery and problem-solving.
Holistic Skill Development
Our program targets five key developmental areas: physical, cognitive, social-emotional, language, and creative expression. By combining elements from Reggio Emilia and Montessori approaches, we offer engaging activities that build foundational skills and prepare children for future success.
Chartwell Childcare is more than a daycare—it’s a place where children are inspired to grow, explore, and develop a lifelong love for learning.
Maria Montessori (Montessori Philosophy)
Maria Montessori (1870–1952) was an Italian physician, educator, and innovator who developed the Montessori method of education, which emphasizes independence, hands-on learning, and respect for a child’s natural psychological development. She was the first woman to graduate in medicine from the University of Rome. Montessori’s observations of children led her to create an educational approach that values a child’s intrinsic desire to learn. Her method is practiced worldwide and focuses on self-directed activities, collaborative play, and a carefully prepared environment to support holistic development.
Loris Malaguzzi (Reggio Emilia Philosophy)
Loris Malaguzzi (1920–1994) was an Italian educator and the founder of the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. Inspired by the post-World War II desire to rebuild society through education, Malaguzzi emphasized the importance of a child-centered curriculum that values collaboration, creativity, and exploration. He believed that children are capable, curious learners who construct knowledge through relationships with their peers, teachers, and environment. His work continues to influence progressive early learning practices globally, celebrating the “hundred languages” of children—the many ways they express and understand the world.
Why Montessori and Reggio Emilia?
Montessori and Malaguzzi approaches offer unique benefits that stand apart from traditional educational methods. Here's why many parents choose these philosophies for their children:
1. Child-Centric Approach
Both methods focus on the individual child, tailoring the curriculum to each learner's pace, interests, and learning style. This personalized approach fosters a genuine love for learning and makes education an engaging and meaningful experience.
2. Holistic Development
Montessori and Malaguzzi emphasize the well-rounded growth of children by nurturing academic, social, emotional, and practical life skills. This comprehensive approach equips children to thrive in all aspects of life.
3. Personalized and Experiential Learning
-
Montessori: Teachers observe and adapt their methods to match each child’s needs, promoting a deeper understanding and allowing students to progress at their own pace.
-
Malaguzzi: Encourages children to explore and express their learning through creative mediums, fostering curiosity and collaboration.
4. Promotion of Independence
Both methods inspire self-discipline and responsibility. Children are given the freedom to make choices within a structured setting, building confidence and decision-making skills.
5. Social and Emotional Growth
Multi-age Montessori classrooms encourage peer mentorship and collaboration, while Malaguzzi-inspired environments promote teamwork and mutual respect. These settings create a strong sense of community and enhance social skills.
6. A Love for Lifelong Learning
By presenting learning as enjoyable and meaningful, these methods nurture curiosity and an intrinsic enthusiasm for knowledge that lasts a lifetime.
7. Real-World Readiness
Beyond academics, children gain practical life skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidence to navigate real-world challenges.
8. Conducive Learning Environment
The classrooms are thoughtfully designed to be calm, organized, and inspiring, creating an ideal space for children to focus, explore, and thrive.
Montessori and Malaguzzi approaches offer children a nurturing, enriching, and empowering start to their educational journey, preparing them for a future of endless possibilities.
